Curriculum

International Curriculum

During the early years, the emphasis is on literary to prepare children to read and write, with the beginning of a foundation in all areas of personal and academic developments.  Our early years programme will be based on the International Montessori and Inquiry-based Programme and offer highly respected and world-class educational programmes, aiming to prepare young child to become positive, active and lifelong learners.  It is enhanced with Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin.  It is a foundation that nurtures young children to develop thinking skills, self-confidence and achieve independence in learning and personal development.

In the programme a balance is sought between acquisition of essential knowledge and skills, development of conceptual understanding, demonstration of positive attitudes, and taking of responsible action.

In terms of achieving this balance, FIVE essential elements of the curriculum are emphasized:

Knowledge:

Significant, relevant content that we wish the students to explore and know about, taking into consideration their prior experience and understanding.

Concepts:

Powerful ideas that have relevance within the subject areas but also transcend them and that students must explore and re-explore in order to develop a coherent, in-depth understanding.

Skills:

Those capabilities that the students need to demonstrate to succeed in a changing, challenging world, which may be disciplinary or transdisciplinary in nature.

Attitudes:

Dispositions that are expressions of fundamental values, beliefs and feelings about learning, the environment and people.

Action:

Demonstrations of deeper learning in responsible behaviour through responsible action; a manifestation in practice of the other essential elements.

FIVE areas of learning and development shape the education programmes for early years.  These areas are particular crucial for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, and for building their capacity to learn, form relationship, respect and thrive.

STEM & CODING Education

STEM_edited.jpg

STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics — in an interdisciplinary and applied approach. Rather than teach the four disciplines as separate and discrete subjects, STEM integrates them into a cohesive learning paradigm based on real-world applications.

BLENDED LEARNING

What separates STEM from the traditional science and math education is the blended learning environment and showing students how the scientific method can be applied to everyday life. It teaches students computational thinking and focuses on the real world applications of problem solving. As mentioned before, STEM education begins while students are very young:

EARLY CHILDHOOD  — STEM education focuses on the introductory level STEM courses, as well as awareness of the STEM fields and occupations. This initial step provides standards-based structured inquiry-based and real world problem-based learning, connecting all four of the STEM subjects. The goal is to pique students' interest into them wanting to pursue the courses, not because they have to. There is also an emphasis placed on bridging in-school and out-of-school STEM learning opportunities.

CODING PROGRAM

Also, CODING is the new literacy! As parents, we understand the importance of learning languages at an early age. In the digital era, coding is the new language of technology every child should master. Whether or not your child aspires to be an engineer, early exposure to coding develops their logical problem-solving skills, unleashes their creativity, and empowers them to freely express themselves.

We collaborate with Cobo Academy from Hong Kong to implement Coding Curriculum for ages 4-6 which is led by a tech veteran and ex-Microsoft Engineer. The objective is to empower your child to become future ready through early exposure to coding, robotics, AI and more!   It is FUN and interactive, encoring students to freely express themselves and unleash their inner curiosity.

By embracing problem-based and project-based learning, we develop your child’s core skills for today, tomorrow and beyond: Critical thinking, Communication, Collaboration, & Creativity. We include Coding into our school’s curriculum, it is a perfect blend of theories, group activities and exercises for children to unleash their inner curiosity and inspire thinking.  The subject focuses from Coding Fundamentals “Unplugged” Coding, Screen-less Programming, Block-based Programming, and Robotics& IoT.  We start from using Cubetto, Cube Stackers, Robot Races to unplug and introduce the fundamentals of Coding to youngest students, FUN is guaranteed.

PERFORMING ART PROGRAMMES

Lastly but not the least, we include various performing arts programs such as ballet, drum, percussion, piano, gymrama, drama play courses as part of our integrated curriculum, cultivating enthusiasm and sensitivity through performing and musical activities for our students.

This all is to strive an excellence learning environment and empower your child to become a life-long learner and be future ready through early exposure to formal and all-rounded early childhood education.

We focus on the development of whole child!
